Are you spending more or less money at the grocery storehouse this class ? The answer to that question depend on just what you ’re putting into your cart .
TheUSDA ’s Economic Research Service recentlyput together this chart of where single food prices have been trend over the last year . There was a very slight overall increase in the total price of food prepared at home , but that does n’t quite tell the whole tarradiddle . Some foods had fairly large increases , while others take hold relatively steady , and some got even cheaper .
The numbers get a little less surprising when you consider that a lot of the price increase was center on around meat ( especially gripe and pork ) , whose consumption has beensteadily increasingfor the past 40 year . One of the few items to have a downturn was non - alcohol-dependent beverages , a trend that may be partly due to ourdwindling interestin drinking soda .
