Yesterday , we engender abrand new trailerfor Alien : Covenant . And today we ’re piecing together all the clew we ’ve gotten about this movie into one big breakdown . We do it so you do n’t have to go crazy .
Some of this footage we determine in the first trailer , but with the prologue and everything else released since then , we have a much good idea of what we ’re ensure . So , we ’re going to do a giant breakdown of everything we now know .
It open with a dig of the crowd of the Covenant , a dependency ship full of people in cryogenic eternal rest . Star Katherine Waterston expose a while back that the work party all consist of duo . From the prologue , even though we still do n’t know names , we can suss out a few of the couples : Danny McBride ( Tennessee ) is marry to Amy Seimetz ( Faris ) , Carmen Ejogo appear to be with Billy Crudup , Demián Bichir and Nathaniel Dean are a couple , Jussie Smollet and Tess Haubrich are paired , and we ’d already heard that Waterston ’s Daniels and James Franco ’s Branson are together .

The thing about this whole movie is that what ’s chilling in the trailer , and the moving picture , is n’t the obscure . It ’s the fact that we all have sex this is going to go very bad and we know pretty much in what way it will go bad : body revulsion noncitizen . So it ’s knowing that the bright delegacy , the fact that people have their loved ones with them , and the camaraderie we see with the crew are all doom that ’s being prey on .
And here the landing company wee-wee the classic horror moving picture mistake of separate up . We see in the shot of Walter that there are a act of Covenant crew members on the shuttle . Four go off into the grass .
Faris , alone , waves them off with a bird of passage with a solar panel .
This exotic major planet that bet untouched by human hand is growing recognizable wheat , which very much has been touched by human hand . This plays into the Alien mythos that there was a subspecies of “ applied scientist ” that were the primogenitor of humans — they’re similar to us , why would n’t their food be like ? And if they were traveling around , why would n’t they extend seed like we do ?
The Covenant gang asks , “ What are the odds of finding human botany this far from Earth ? ” and “ Who plant it ? ” which are very adept head .
Looking around , a mortal I call up is Billy Crudup step on some round thing , release spores . It ’s like the mist we roll in the hay is generated when an egg is disturbed . And we ’ve seen footage that shows that at least one member of this landing company gets infected with a spineburster . In fact , we visit something go in an ear in thefirst trailer .
Daniels notes that this planet occupy with verdant planet life is idle silent , no tweedle birds or animal noises . Which is a good star sign that something is very wrong .
Another sign is this gargantuan doss ship ( which the movie had alreadyshared a still of ) , which bears not a small resemblance to thering - shaped ship fromPrometheus . We even check a map of one displayed as a hologram in that picture show .
“ What pass here ? ” comes the voiceover . The team seems to explore the ship , and Daniels walk down a corridor that , again , was part ofearlier promotion for Covenant . It ’s almost identical to what was find in Prometheus and Daniels even finds a clue .
It ’s a Weyland - Yutani branded dog tag , which mean that either the Covenant crew got unlucky enough to trip up onto the same planet as in Prometheus ; they ’ve feel where Elizabeth Shaw ( Noomi Rapace ) and David ’s headland ( Michael Fassbender ) ended up in their subsequent journeys ; or the ship from the other planet has , somehow , been repaired and take flight from that major planet to this one .
The other pick is that this is cut to make it depend like Daniels incur the dog-iron ticket where the corridors are , but she ’s actually somewhere else entirely .
Billy Crudup finds a room full of orchis , which we have seen before and know are bad news .
It ’s slightly updated , but this is passably close to the classic H.R. Giger ballock design . The move inside tell us that there ’s about to be a large old face hug .

These next piece go rattling tight , so here we go :
First is this shooter of an abandoned headset with someone calling , “ Do you record me , come in , ” which I think is from the sequence where Faris , on the landing place shuttle , has to fight off a Xenomorph that has a ) just collapse out of the back of a crew appendage and b ) killed another crew member .
Next is a shot of Daniels — watchword , panting , and carrying a weapon — back on the Covenant . That ’s Tennessee behind her , and he does n’t go down to the satellite , so they have to be back on the concordat by this compass point .
This part is back on the shuttlecock , with the backburster breaking through the glass where Faris has stress to lock in the medical bay tree .
And this part in reality comes first , since Carmen Ejogo bring someone infected to the shuttle is what kickstarts all the action there .
In rapid succession we have Faris briefing the Covenant on the expiration - on , a Xenomorph about to explode out the back of someone , and Carmen Ejogo pointing a knife while cling in the elbow room with that Xenomorph - infected friend . That ’s survive to end poorly . ( These are all shots that were in the first trailer ) .
A ship looks like make a falling out from the planet during a storm , but I actually cogitate this is a landing place because of a ) the angle and b ) the fact that we see the shuttle explode . I gauge this could be another one landing to fetch help .
This is sort of cut to imply that Tennessee shout at Faris to “ Calm down , steady ” is from this scene . ( The endearment is a reminder that they ’re marital . ) Her response is “ Do n’t severalize me to calm down , you did n’t see , ” which is probably a reference to what happened on the birdie with the Xenomorph .
A Xenomorph that looks a bit like a chestburster , but clean in vividness and with backbone down its back , attacks someone on the planet . The flames behind this scene seem to indicate that it ’s right after the shuttle explodes .

These things also encounter before the flame - lit fire . Again , the gash incriminate that Faris trying to shoot a Xenomorph is what sets off the explosion . The body with the wedding ring is , I ’m passably sure , the person that the charge incubate in before tackling the guy with the gun sooner in the trailer .
Daniels says , “ All of this , to commence our newfangled biography . ”
I have no idea who this mystifying gun - wielder is . It looks like the ardor from the bird has ignite this shot and that the hooded individual has save them , maybe ? It is kind of a classic “ just spare you ” entering flummox . I ’m betting it ’s either Noomi Rapace — which is improbable since her role is so minor as to be a cameo — or David , the other “ synthetical ” that Michael Fassbender is playing and the one we last saw as only a head in Prometheus . He ’s supposedly the only survivor on this planet , and I ’m betting he ’s behind the tough .
Remember how Prometheus start with a flashback to the Engineers / Pilots ( the big , bald , livid aliens — they’re call both , with “ Engineers ” being prominent in Prometheus ) ? This , with the monumental figures we ’ve seen them make before , seems to be another one of those .
No , Facehugger , squeeze faces , not guns .
It looks like one of the hold on the Covenant is depressurizing . Also a dependable clock time to commend that the Covenant is full of the things people would need to start a dependency , so obviously there are vehicles and weighty machinery on board .
I want to draw attention to the room we first see what looks very much like a Xenomorph ( looks like a Queen with those spikes ) in . She rent up your attention but on the leftfield is an autopsied physical structure of an Engineer / Pilot , all sorts of drafting of that race , and a tabular array full of artifacts . I inquire who assembled all that ? ( David , probably . Possibly Shaw before she , I assume , decease . )
Daniels and Tennessee work together to seek to save the Covenant , mention that in the upper left is a monitoring machine with either David or Walter on it . It looks like he ’s at the ascendance of the ship .
“ Where is it ? ” growls out Daniels . From the way we keep seeing doors keep out and lock , it seems like either they ’re seek to isolate the fairy and to shoot down it or the ship ’s working against them and trapping them with it , and they ’re racing the doors . I think it ’s the former .
And this is the money shot .
After the title circuit card , we see how Daniels gets off the major planet when the shuttlecock explodes : Tennessee in another ship — much flatter than anyone we ’ve consider before , so it is n’t the one in the storm — clearly came down to help . And Daniels is outside the ship with a gun hear to rid them of a pest .
Just a slender problem they ’re facing .

From everything we ’ve seen , it sound like the planet the Convenant gets to is , like the one in Prometheus , a place where the Engineers and the Xenomorphs fairly thoroughly blighted . It also looks like the data Shaw and David stick away with in that movie lead them there , where Shaw belike perished , exit David all alone to adjoin the Covenant gang . The party sent to reconnoitre out the planet go into trouble , admit at least two infected crew members and a exploded shuttle . Tennessee and another ship do to get them , they fight their way back to the Covenant , and there they have to get fight off one or more hitchhikers .
by the way , the inverted comma shown in the this trailer , “ The path to paradise begins in hell , ” is supposedly a quotation from Dante Alighieri ( not that I can happen a reference for that to salvage my life . I mistrust it ’s one of the quotes attributed to him but never say . If you may show its provenance , please let me cognise . ) That draw a line from the old name of this movie , Paradise Lost , which is a title from a unlike larger-than-life poet with an compulsion with heaven and hell .
