Climate change is steering hoar bear and polar bear on a collision course . When they meet in the midsection , fights are inevitable . Find out who is favored to win , evolutionarily speaking .
trope bySteven J. Kazlowski .
It ’s long been show that the rapidly warming earth is unsound news for glacial bears . Their home ground is shrinking , as are their food source and breeding grounds . If global warming continues , they may face a tough competitor . Grizzly bear habitat is limit by frigid winter and flat solid of shabu . As their human race warm up up , they ’re expanding north .

The habitats of the two marauder are already begin to overlap . If they continue to do so , the polar bear , not the grizzlies , are cash in one’s chips to be the losers in the competition for survival . This is surprising to some . Ursus horribilis are just a scarily - advert race of brown bear . They ’re not even the biggest of the subspecies of brown bears . Polar bear are bigger , and have a filthy reputation than grizzlies . They are thought to be more belligerent , and are more dependent on kernel for food .
It ’s that protein dieting that tips the betting odds against diametrical bears if the species are in competition . diametrical bears have adapt to eating flesh . Brown bear are omnivorous . The more soft diet means that the brownish bear ’s jaw and stronger and tooth are big . Fat and material body require less durability to tear and less survival to break dance down . A head - on fight would lead in a winning polar bear , but scavenge the same swath of state for food results in a starving one . Unless their exclusive habitat is protect , the world may lose polar bears for good .
