Dreaming of a blank Christmas ? NOAA unloose a graphic that charts out the probability that you ’ll have some snow on December 25th , based on historical norms .
I do n’t know about you , but looking at my Facebook ‘ Memories ’ feature film , and I ’m seeing that on this date over the last couple of years , we ’ve had snowfall on the ground , a mickle of it . I ’m holding out Bob Hope that we ’ll get some before too long .
NOAA ’s graphic shows the “ climatological probability of at least 1 column inch of C. P. Snow being on the ground ” :

This mathematical function is found on the1981–2010 Climate Normals , which are the latest three - decade averages of several climatological measuring . This dataset comprise everyday and monthly Normals of temperature , precipitation , snowfall , heating and cool academic degree years , frost / freeze dates , and grow degree days calculated from observations at approximately 9,800 stations operated by NOAA ’s National Weather Service .
