Tarsem Singh ’s grease - up Greek god action flick Immortals looks like the sexiest take on Grecian mythology yet — and leading lady Freida Pinto tells us that it gets pretty acute . We also demand Stephen Dorff about being the only mortal among the Immortals .
And Dorff say us about his ideas for a picture show about Deacon Frost from Blade .
What ’s it like being the only deadly in divinity ?
Stephen Dorff : Cool . He ’s essentially your kind of everyman . He ’s a bit cocky , a bit sweet , a bit charming , a bit unregenerate , he likes the pretty girls , and at last , I think , joins forces with the gang because he
does n’t want to be impart alone to die . He ’d rather go out with the pretty miss . That ’s pretty much
Stavros in a nutshell .
What ’s your relationship with Theseus ?
Stephen Dorff : Strained through most of the motion-picture show , because I ’m dispatch on his girl the whole time , but ultimately we join . When thing are getting really pugnacious , there ’s no point in continuing that between us . We
kind of join force for the better of the world , for our liveliness , and for manhood . And we do that
together and we take them down .
Why did you desire to get involved with Tarsem ?
Stephen Dorff : Tarsem ’s a really talented director and we talked about doing a film a few twelvemonth back and I liked the role on paper . He had the most personality , I intend , of any of the character and
I just wanted to bring him to life . I also wanted to do something bigger in this genre I had n’t
done in a while .
So your character is always trying to slip the main guy ’s girl . What are his movement like ? Is he
good ?
Stephen Dorff : He ’s just going to say what he wants . He ’s not afraid to say what he wants or do what he wants . I mean Stavros is jolly much genial - of like Han Solo , if you saw Star Wars , he ’s more that form of bozo .
Are we ever going to see a movie about Deacon Frost from Blade ?
Stephen Dorff Maybe , but I do n’t know . I think of me and Steve Norrington , who ’s a harebrained brain , desire to do
something together again , but he has a tricksy time working in Hollywood . He does n’t really wish
studios , so we ’ll see . One twenty-four hours I can maybe summon him out . I would n’t want to go near that with
anybody but him . Also , Marvel seems to now be possess by Disney and they ’re doing all these
different uncanny things , pose all these characters together , and grouping movies and strange things .
It does n’t feel like we ’d probably do it that way . We ’d probably might conceive of something
else , and do more of a graphic novel type affair is what we ’ve been talking about .
He ’s such an epic quality you want to follow . What ’s the story you require to tell that has n’t been told about Deacon ?
Stephen Dorff : I do n’t know . The idea before was we were going to do almost a prequel like how he became a vampire because he was always , I judge , turn in the motion picture . He was n’t a true blood , he was
like a half - rip , I do n’t know what they call it , its been so longsighted . But we talked about kind - of
how did Deacon become that guy rope . We were going to do almost a Scarface version in New York ,
really gritty . really intend , and almost show this lonely , empty guy and the shift and
place up almost our own small franchise with it . It ’s an theme that Steve had , it might not even be a
Deacon Frost movie . It might be a whole new envisioning of a vampire movie , which perhaps we
will create now , so we ’re kind of up in the melodic line . There ’s been a draw of different thing write about
it . Every time somebody asks me , I say something and then it ’s on Google , but it was a great
part . It was way bigger than I ever think . multitude still come in up to me and talk to me about
the film , even though it ’s been like 12 something years .
How does your character fit in with all the turmoil between the gods and the human race ?
Freida Pinto : Well I represent the Greek priestess Phaedra , who has the talent of seeing the future and she spring the part of the core group that , before the Theses fight , that is going to help Theseus fulfill his foreign mission . And so she ’s very , very important , a very life-sustaining individual in that horse sense and she has this , like I say , this gift of seeing the future , but she also has this dilemma of choosing between the endowment and love .
Well okay , but if she find out the future and she chooses Theseus …
Freida Pinto : I did n’t say she pick out Theseus . I just say she has a dilemma .
Why would n’t everyone go with what she wants to do since you could see the future ?
Freida Pinto : I kind - of have the dilemma myself when someone asked me : “ if you had a superpower would you keep the superpower , or would you go for erotic love or something else that is in the material cosmos ? ” And my first reaction was of course I ’d keep the superpower because all of us deep down want to have a great power , so I would keep it . But then you only know how agonizing it is and nothing is a bed of roses . You only know how agonising it is once you ’ve survive that life , so who bonk ? Phaedra probably take a break . [ Laughter ] .
What was most surprising when you see Tarsem ’s footage , whenever the first prison term you saw it was ?
Freida Pinto : The first metre I saw the 3 - five hundred footage was today . I ’ve seen bits and pieces in ADR school term , but this is the first time I ’ve probably seen 3 - cholecalciferol footage . And I ’ve never felt so kind - of overwhelmed in a way because this is what we did for four months of our life in Montreal , and Tarsem said “ that drop-off going to be really big , ” we obviously imagined a big drop , but large like that ? No . So everything is so much bigger than what we expected and that ’s just been an amazing experience .
