A New York City man has been convicted of killing and dismembering a woman he had trafficked “for commercial sex” and authorities say he also watched crime shows for tips on how to cover-up the murder.
He was convicted of murder-for-hire, murder-for-hire conspiracy, wire fraud conspiracy, aggravated identity theft and fraudulent use of identification. Martin, now 36, strangled Odom, 26, to death in April 2018, according to the statement.
Anderson told authorities Martin watched crime shows to learn how to commit the crime and cover it up, according to the statement.
After Martin killed Odom, Anderson joined him in purchasing cleaning supplies and a vacuum, she testified, according to the statement.
She claimed Martin covered the surface of the bathtub with heavy-duty, black garbage bags and dismembered Odom’s body.
She accompanied him in disposing of parts of her body across a park in Brooklyn over two days in early April 2018, the statement added.
United States Attorney for the Eastern District of New York Breon Peace said in the statement that Martin considered Odom his “moneymaker" and trafficked and murdered her before “tossing out her slaughtered body parts” in order to “profit from her death."

Anderson has pleaded guilty to charges in connection with the murder and life-insurance scheme offenses, per the The Associated Press, but it wasn’t immediately clear if she has been sentenced.
“Brandy Odom suffered an unthinkable death at the defendant’s hands,” he said, per the statement, “but her life mattered and I hope that this verdict holding the defendant responsible brings some measure of closure to her family.”
