Throwback photos of Treat with Ellie as a young child were also shared in the post, including one of her sitting on her dad’s lap on a set of stairs and another as a toddler sitting on her dad’s shoulders.

The poignant post comes after Ellie, Gill and Williams’ wife Van Sant, whom he married in 1988, spoketo PEOPLEthis week about dealing with the loss of Treat.

“I think because of the suddenness of it — there was absolutely no preparation — so I find that I’m still grappling with the fact that it happened and that he’s really, really gone,” she said.

Williams’ son Gill added to PEOPLE that it feels strange to know that his father is “actually gone,” but he is grateful to see he’s “left behind this beautiful legacy.”

“I think that’s something that you’re very lucky if your parent is an artist — especially when [the artist] is as prolific as him, because you do get to, in many ways, still be with them through that art,” he explained.

Meanwhile Ellie noted that her father had known the value of those closest to him.

“His family was the thing that he always said [he’d be remembered for],” she said.
