Wendy Williamsis cutting ties with her estranged husbandKevin Hunter, both personally and professionally.

Williams, who shares 19-year-old son Kevin Jr. with Hunter, filed for divorce last week after nearly 22 years of marriage. (The pair also shares aproduction company, Wendy Williams Productions.)

“It’s hard after being married for so long and having a family together, to be able to move forward,” the source says. “But she realized she had to open her eyes to a bad marriage. So many stick around when they should get out.”

The source also claims that Hunter’s alleged affair has beengoing on for the majorityof his marriage to Williams.

A rep for Williams and Hunter did not respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

“I am not proud of my recent actions and take full accountability and apologize to my wife, my family and her amazing fans,” he said. “I am going through a time of self-reflection and am trying to right some wrongs.”
